Kimsey Foundation Leadership
Michael Kimsey is the
Executive Director, President, and a Trustee of the Kimsey Foundation. The
Kimsey Foundation is a family foundation with a mission to act as a catalytic
"change agent" through strategic partnerships that leverage resources and
focus the talents of many. The Foundation's primary emphasis is in educational
and cultural initiatives that help to build livable communities in Washington,
D.C. These initiatives work to offer hope and opportunity to Washington's youth.
Mr. Kimsey serves as
Chairman of the Communities in Schools of the Nation's Capital DC Task Force.
He is a Founding Member of the Place-Based Funders Group, a Board Member of KIPP
DC/KEY Academy, and a Trustee of the Federal City Council. Mr. Kimsey also
serves on the Advisory Boards of several organizations including the National
Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship-Greater Washington, Charity Works, and
the Center for Corporate Citizenship of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Prior to his philanthropic
work, Mr. Kimsey was the Company Commander for the Main Support Medical Company
of the 1st Armored Division in Germany. He also served as the officer in charge
of Patient Administration and Logistics at the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers
Europe Medical Facility in Belgium, and as a platoon leader and company executive
officer for a main support medical company. Mr. Kimsey served as personnel advisor
to the battalion commander in Bosnia in 1996. Mr. Kimsey earned a B.A. in Philosophy
at the College of William and Mary, and an M.B.A. at George Mason University. He is
married with two children.
